African American Heritage Grants

Resources

The Virginia African American Heritage Program is a program of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities (VFH). Increasing public understanding of African American history and culture is a priority of the VFH Grant Program.

These grants are designed to support research and documentation of African American historic sites, to strengthen institutions that interpret Virginia’s African American history, and to provide a solid intellectual foundation for African American heritage tourism in every region of Virginia.

Applying for Folklife Grants

These grants are governed by the Foundation's standard application guidelines, and draft proposals are encouraged. For further information and assistance, or to request application guidelines and materials, contact the VFH at (434)924-3296 or visit the VFH Grant Program Website.
