Historical Significance:
The African American Historical Society of Fauquier County (AAHA) was founded in 1992 by two Fauquier County citizens with deep family roots in the Piedmont. The goal of the organization is to document, preserve, and educate the public about the often neglected history of the Fauquier County region. Through the museum, genealogy resource center, monthly public programs, and community outreach, AAHA seek to serve the citizens of Virginia.
Physical Description:
150 year old iron cage from the slave ship, Veronica. Two levels of exhibits on local, regional, and national African American history. African artifacts. Library of African American culture and history. Geneology resource center with emphasis on difficult to find records of African American family history.
